The wine wasn't new, but the release was! We had a great summer of Wine Festivals and Events and we were really happy with how enthusiastically the inaugural 2007 Vintage was received. 2009 Tasting EventThe 2007 Chardonnay and the 2007 Sangiovese Rosato have both sold out. If you missed out, don't worry, the 2008 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay will release very soon (and we are really happy with how this wine has evolved). In addition we produced a Riesling in 2008 which was crafted in a Dry Alsatian style; we only produced 12 cases of this wine and it has created quite a buzz. Our Riesling can be found at the on-line WineShop. In 2008 we also produced two Cabernet Sauvignons (one vineyard was on the mesa and the other vineyard was on on the valley floor) and a Syrah. The red wines, including the Sangiovese, are presently barrel ageing and will likely release next spring.

In the mean time, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2007 Syrah are drinking beautifully. Serving temperature is key to fully appreciating these wines. We like them served just below room temperature: around 64F for the Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch warmer on the Syrah. At the right temperature you'll find a the Cabernet's Bouquet to exhibit chocolate (an excellent complementary pairing idea) and the Syrah soft on the pallet with an amazing ability to sing with food.

Since our last newsletter many of you have signed up for a user account on the website. We hope the transition to user accounts has been an easy one. The Wine Shop doesn't require an account to purchase wine or schedule a bicycle delivery but registration does allow you to save your shipping information and sign-up for the Crush Crew.

Crush Crew
The 2009 Vintage is fast approaching and harvest is nearly upon us! We've just returned from the vineyards and it looks like a great vintage. We expect the Chardonnay may harvest in early September! In 2008 we will receive 7 Tons of fruit which includes: Chardonnay, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Needless to say, we're going to need some help! We've sent out a message to let everyone in the Crush Crew know, so if you did not receive the Crush Crew announcement, and would like to, please login to the site to join.

What is the Crush Crew? Our Crush Crew is a group of people interested Sole e Luna with the New Harvest Binsin winemaking and willing to volunteer in the winemaking process. We use this list to send invites for fall crush (grape sorting), press, and bottling events. Folks who participate in one of these volunteer work days become members of our "Friends and Family" club. If you are interested in learning more about the winemaking process please register for a website account and then choose the Dashboard from your user account to add the Crush Crew to your groups. If you're having any problems with the log-in, please let us know so we can continue to improve the site.

Two Tweets and a Fan
It's all the buzz and we've been bit. It's a bit quirky and informal but none the less a fun and exciting way to interact! If you're active on Facebook please become a fan of Settembre Cellars Fan Page. Our Facebook fan page provides updates on events and allows you to add them to your event calendar, comment on posted material and add your own pictures from events and Settembre Cellars wine sightings. We also have a presence on Twitter which we update frequently and informally. It's a great way to find out about last minute events and deals in addition to interact with a vibrant community. In the News
We are honoured to receive so much good press. Since our coverage in Boulder's paper, The Camera (the complete article is posted on the website), we have been interviewed by Rick Bakas who posted about us on his Blog. When doing a tasting and asking Rick's trained pallet about our Cabernet Sauvignon I broke the long silence that followed the taste by asking what he thought of the wine. He spoke only two words: "Impeccably balanced". For a winemaker, a very gratifying and inspiring response. We also made television in a feature by CBS 4 in Denver. Shipping States
Since the initial launch of our on-line store we have been able to take advantage of some spectacular FedEx rates. Check it out, we can deliver to Colorado, California, and North Dakota. We are willing to consider shipping to other states as well, let us know if you have a specific need and we will look into the legalities for the state in question.

Even better, and with a lower environmental impact consider Bicycle delivery if you live within our bicycle delivery zone.

It's beginning to look a bit purple around here. The grapes in the Boulder vineyard have passed Veraison and we have tiny bunches of purple grapes hanging from the vines. It's a beautiful and exciting time in the vineyard. In 2008 we produced a TINY 2 cases of wine from our Boulder vineyard called "80304".

This is likely Boulder's first commercial Estate wine and we are planning to release this wine as local as possible.

After our first Season of Wine Festivals, we made the realization when connecting with wine enthusiasts that it is difficult to fully satisfy their inquisitive nature in this setting. In response we have begun offering Private Wine Events. We're looking forward to sharing our passion for wine with you.
